Ashbrookes has secured planning permission and funding to transform the historic Linthorpe Assembly Rooms in Middlesbrough into high-quality student and residential apartments, revitalising this local landmark. The £1.7 million development, supported by Momentum Finance Group, will feature 16 spacious apartments—almost double the size of typical student studios—alongside new commercial spaces like a restaurant.
Construction, led by Stockton-based Kaldani Builders Ltd, is set to begin shortly. The project caters to Teesside University’s growing student population, offering modern, generous accommodation ideal for postgraduate and international students.
Originally built in 1924, the Linthorpe Assembly Rooms were once a key social hub. This redevelopment preserves its character while meeting demand for high-quality housing, with Ashbrookes aiming to deliver over 170 new student rooms in the North East, further expanding their portfolio. CEO Arif Mushtaq highlights the project as a milestone in regenerating Middlesbrough while enhancing the town's student accommodation landscape.
