John Street: November Update

Executive Summary

Welcome to our November 2024 John Street Sunderland Project Update.

Thanks to our network and investors contribution, we are pleased to confirm that we are now moving into the next stage of the build process. We also have some exciting updates on planning and design.

Planning & Design:

• After a series of meetings with Sunderland Council we have now reached agreement on the design of the façade of the building. It was crucial to ensure that the design fits in with the Riverside Conservation Zone, so we are extremely pleased to be able to now move forward with this part of the project.
• Following appointment of an M&E Engineer for heating and hot water options, we have now completed the design works and relevant calculations to deliver an efficient and compliant system for residents.
• We are pleased to confirm that we are seeking to obtain Sustainable Build Certification. This refers to the practice of designing, building, and operating structures in an environmentally responsible way.

Sustainability Goals:

We aim to make the build programme ecologically friendly and lower our environmental impact. To achieve this, we will aim to incorporate the following to our development:

• Seek to use sustainable and local materials where possible.
• Install low energy use fittings throughout the development.
• Reduce the number of vehicles we use by sourcing local products and materials.
• Energy-efficient technologies.
• Optimise natural lighting.
• Improve water efficiency.
• Improve indoor air quality.
• Install green roofing where possible.
• Implement a comprehensive recycling program.
• Encourage community involvement.
• Educate occupants on sustainability.
• Stay accountable.
